The goal of the Shell Company is to provide the enough energy in reasonable prices, to help the environment now and in the future. But over the years Shell has been disliked by environmental and human rights groups for the number of operations Shell has done. South Africa and Nigeria have complained about Shells operations. A ton of reputational damage came to Shell when Shell had problems with the massive Sakhalin.3,4
History
In the First World War, the first people Alcock and Brown used sheel fuel to make flight in 1919. During this time there was a major increase for all kinds of oil indusrtries because the use of motor cars had increased and so caused more demand for gas. In the 1920's Shell was the worlds biggest oil company. Giving about 11% of oil and owning 10% of its tanker tonnage.5
What it Does
The Royal Dutch Shell is a king above all other gas companies. It is being slightly beaten finically by Exxon Mobile and BP. They have proved reservations of 11.5 billion barrels of oil!. It also gives bitumen, refined products, various chemicals, transports, natural gas, trades gas and electricity, develops renewable energy sources, and owns 45,000 gas stations! That is quite an accomplishment. Having overestimated oil reserves revealed, put them under more pressure for greater publicity in their organizational structure. In 2005, this led to the merging of former public trading owners, making the Royal Dutch Petroleum and The "Shell" Transport and Trading Company into a new company called, The Royal Dutch Shell, which was publicly traded. 6
